Hello, friends. Welcome to Antelope Hill, a place of Shelties and dreams. The site navigation buttons are at the bottom of the page, so scroll all the way down to see our Shelties and the Sheltie art, stories, and articles. But Antelope Hill is more than just the Shelties. Do come in, and don't forget to bring your imagination. (Many thanks to all who wrote in support of the Virtual Hill -- thank you! The Virtual Hill will remain the Virtual Hill.)
Even in the flush and beauty of spring, please do not forget the displaced families and dogs caught in the economic downspiral, and help them if you can.
Welcome to the Hill as late spring warms into early summer! You have now stepped from the outside world onto Clan Duncan
Virtual Hill. Antelope Hill is a real hill, a little bump of land somewhere in the West. Please come visit the Hill in late spring, that time when the high desert enjoys its brief few weeks of green. This afternoon as I sit by my window at the computer, light wind ruffles the wild grasses, fluffy clouds sail by above the lava rimrock, and a meadowlark is singing his heart out from the very top of one of the pine trees we rescued from the Old Hill. Come on! Let's go for a walk and see what's happening on the Hill. One exciting thing that we know is happening: yesterday morning we saw the very first antelope fawns of the year! There were two of them, curled up on soft grass in the sunshine down in the Paiute Creek gulch, while their dams grazed peacefully nearby. Green grass, wildflowers, the sweetly fragrant pale yellow flowers of bitterbrush perfuming the air, baby swallows cheeping from a birdhouse, seventy-two degrees, ten percent humidity, a gentle breeze, antelope fawns, and new puppies -- it's a good time to be on the Hill! Stay for a long visit, and after our walk, we'll have some iced tea. We can talk about puppies and flowers.
In these pages you will find historic Shelties, fun, fantasy, free web art, the blog of life on Antelope Hill, this breeder’s working notes, issues confronting our breed, a little laughter, a spoonful of tears, and neither last nor least, the Clan Duncan Shelties themselves. Be sure to place your mouse over all the images, great and small, for more text. That is how I always get the last word!
If you wish to contact me, please email me at danaq@aol.com. If I don’t reply, please try
again – sometimes I get too many emails at once, and they will get lost in the mass of messages before
I get a chance to answer them, or even to read them!
Our glamorous Rachel (Clan Duncan Moonstone, Ch. Freddie's litter sister) is back out in the ring and has just added two points to her total. We co-own Rachel with Davishall Shelties. Way to go, Rachel and Dottie!
Also, seen below at 1.5 years, is our good boy Styx. Styx is growing up beautifully and now has his information on the Boys Page. Styx is by our Ch. Freddie ex Int. Ch. Callie (both pictured on this site).
This month there is a new Hill Page, as always, with lots of pictures. The Hill Page is our blog. (Remember, the navigation buttons are at the bottom of the pages!) The Puppy Page has been updated as well, and the news right now is:
Go to the Puppy Page and see our beautiful all-bi-black litter. And there are more puppies to come, making this a very happy late spring/early summer on the Hill. I am hoping this summer to have enough time once again to add to the Sheltie Stories, Growls, Breeder's Notebook, Fun, and Free Web Art Pages.
Please click the wording above to go with us on our recent trip to Australia (I am going to leave this up just a bit longer.) Here you will see parrots, reef fish, the red desert, giant lizards, rainforest birds, and the other wonders we encountered.
I am still looking for dogs down from the “old” Clan Duncan
Shelties, now especially for any Sheltie with either one of these two in the
pedigree: Clan Duncan Midnight Special, or Ch. Banchory Blue Ballad, CD. We were delighted last month to find a current Sheltie down from beautiful Clan Duncan John Silver, pts!
Please let me know if you come across any descendents of any of the old Clan Duncan dogs. A caveat here -- there are uncountable descendents of Tinsel (Clan Duncan Banchory Bluette) because she was the dam of Ch. Banchory Thunder Blue, ROM and thus the granddam of Ch. Banchory Deep Purple, ROM. Do stay awhile and explore the other pages, and visit again soon.
